The Knights Cove - On the southern part of Dwejra Tower.

By:Gozo Is Us At:Sat 25/11/2006 14:00 (DWEJRA-2006-11-25)

You cannot miss Dwejra tower once you are in Dwejra bay. It was completed in 1652 during the time of Grand Master Jean Paul Lascaris Castellar. Apart guarding the bay it also guarded Fungus Rock which has a plant that was claimed to have exceptional medicinal properties. Further south of the tower there is a small dug up cave. Even further down you find the knights' cove. There they used to keep small patrol boats and most probably it was also used as a small customs port. Walking to the end of the peninsula close to Fungus Rock you will find two deep holes that held poles for a rope bridge to cross to Fungus Rock. Actually on Fungus Rock itself you can also see cut out rock steps. The Rock has caves on its western side and also some rubble walls, possibly holding some fields worked by the watchmen on the Rock.
